Kayaking - Surf Skiing: Dovey Estuary Wind Direction: NW Wind Stength: 5 knots Surf / Sea State: Flat Air Temperature: 25ºC Sea Temperature: 18ºC Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered:
An absolutely gorgeous little adventure on my surf ski. I paddeld along th
beach from my house towards the estuary and then into the estuary itself.
The sun was shining, the water really clear and warm and there were loads
of people to watch on the beach as I paddled past.
There was some rolling swell in the stuary and a few places with weird cho
and weird currents as I went past the point, but once into the estuary the
water went super smooth.
I paddle across to the Aberdovey side of the estuary, past all the sailing
boats and water-skiers and weaved my way through the moored boats before
heading off further upstream away from the holday hoardes and into quieter
waters.
Past the house with the island and further on up hugging the coastline
which is really pretty. The water was really clear and I could see the
bootom even when it was about 20 foot deep. I had to weave my way through
some sandbanks, and stopped for a bit in the shallow waters to cool off,
before heading all the way back down the estuary out into the sea and back
home again.
It was just perfect, a really good way to see the coast, really peaceful
and relaxing whilst at the same time being quite a good work-out. I reckon
I can average about 5 knots on the ski at the moment in flat water at
least.
I think I'll take a packed lunch with me tomorrow!!!
